The Balsley Peak is a striking and 1,100 m high mountain in the West Antarctic Marie Byrd Land . It rises in the Alexandra Mountains 2.2 km southeast of La Gorce Peak .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 2004 after James Robinson Balsley Jr. (1916-1994), who carried out magnetometer surveys near this mountain as part of Operation Highjump (1946-1947) carried out by the United States Navy and later head of the geophysical department of the United States Geological Survey was made.
