Balthasar Küchler (* around 1571 ; † October 24, 1641 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ; also: Kuchler, Köchle, Kochle) was a German painter.

The painter, who probably comes from Silesia and is based in Schwäbisch Gmünd , became known for his main work, the magnificent documentation of the Stuttgart wedding of Duke Johann Friedrich von Württemberg to Barbara Sophie, Margravine of Brandenburg (November 5 to 13, 1609) , which includes around 240 copper engravings , which he laid in 1611 ( VD 17 23: 250959C). The printing took place in Stuttgart .

In Schwäbisch Gmünd, Küchler was available as a taxpayer in 1594/99. In 1606 he married Susanna Burkhard, with whom he fathered ten children from 1697 to 1624. The son Johann Philipp (1607–1655) also became a painter. He was also inducted into the city council.

From 1616 Balthasar Küchler was in the service of Württemberg, in 1633 he appeared as an escort.

Hermann Kissling sees Küchler primarily as the organizer of the copper engraving company. He wants to recognize twenty designers and erasers. Kissling hesitates to estimate Küchler's contribution to be high, because as a draftsman he "did not shine" (p. 145).
