Hermann Kissling

Hermann Kissling (born April 7, 1925 in Nellingen auf den Fildern ; † September 23, 2018 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) was a German art historian and university professor .

Life

Kissling served in the Navy from October 1942 to 1945, most recently with the rank of senior ensign at sea on a mine ship . He then studied at the State Academy for Fine Arts in Stuttgart, moved to the Technical University of Stuttgart and finally to the University of Tübingen . He devoted himself to the subjects of art history and art education, geography and geology. In 1951 and 1952 he passed the exams for teaching at grammar schools. From 1955 he taught as a secondary school teacher .

Kissling came to Schwäbisch Gmünd in 1957. There he taught at the Schwäbisch Gmünd Pedagogical Institute and in 1962 was a professor on the founding board of the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Education . His main scientific field of activity was the art history of the former imperial city of Schwäbisch Gmünd and its surroundings. Kissling, 1975 at the University of Tübingen with a thesis on the Heilig-Kreuz-Münster Schwäbisch Gmünd for Dr. phil. doctorate , taught for many years as a professor of art education at the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Education. He presented over 80 publications on this. Kissling also headed the Gmünder Geschichtsverein eV from 1972 to 1976 and was honored in 2003 for his life's work by the Ostalbstiftung.

Kissling was buried in the Dreifaltigkeitsfriedhof in Schwäbisch Gmünd.
