from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bamberger Zeitung is a daily newspaper that appears in Bamberg , Upper Franconia .

The Bamberger Zeitung appeared for the first time in 1791. From December 18, 1809 until October 30, 1834, it appeared as Fränkischer Merkur . From then on it was called the Bamberger Tagblatt . The newspaper was owned by the Reindl family until 1902, then passed into the possession of the von Michel family until it was closed in 1934 . The new owner, Richard Freiherr von Michel-Raulino (1864–1926), was a committed DNVP member, and the "Bamberger Tagblatt" was accordingly nationally conservative . After his death in 1926, the newspaper remained in the family's possession and retained its political orientation.

The company founded by JM Reindl still exists today and is part of the Fränkischer Tag group of companies .

In 1807 the German philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel worked briefly as editor-in-chief of the Bamberger Zeitung.
