Richard Freiherr von Michel-Raulino

Richard Karl Gottlieb Freiherr von Michel-Raulino (born November 16, 1864 in Bamberg ; † May 16, 1926 in Lucerne ) was a German lawyer, newspaper publisher, entrepreneur and councilor .

Life

Richard von Michel-Raulino was born Richard Karl Gottlieb Michel in November 1864, the first of five children to the married couple Josef Karl Michel (1829–1902) and Marie Schuster (1835–1899).

In 1891 he married Marguerite "Lillie" Ida Prier de Saône (1868–1944). They had four children together: Lilly von Michel-Raulino (1892–1973), Marie von Michel-Raulino (1893–1978), Richard von Michel-Raulino (1894–1960) and Alfred Willy von Michel-Raulino (1904–1931) .

While his youngest brother Alfred was raised to the hereditary Bavarian nobility and baron class as " Johann Peter Freiherr Michel von Tüssling " as early as 1905 , Richard and his brother Karl were "only " enrolled in 1913 under the name "Freiherr von Michel-Raulino " .

In 1902, with the death of his father, he and his brother Karl took over the business of Joh. Pet. Raulino & Comp. , a famous smoking and snuff factory at the time. In the same year he also acquired the Bamberger Tagblatt newspaper. As a committed member of the German National People's Party , he directed the newspaper in a nationally conservative manner. After his death in 1926, the newspaper remained in the family's possession and retained its political orientation.

He was u. a. Appointed to the supervisory board of the Burglengenfeld cement works around 1914 and he was the chairman of the supervisory board of Deutsche Allgemeine Treuhand AG , a stock corporation founded in 1919 in the field of auditing, real estate and asset management, which merged with Ernst & Young in 1980 .

Richard von Michel-Raulino died in May 1926 and was buried in the family's grave in the porticus of the Bamberg main cemetery.

In 1914 Richard von Michel-Raulino was listed at the top of the richest Bavarian publishers with a fortune of 12 million marks (which in 2010 corresponded to a good 96 million euros).
