content

The main character is a little brown bear who develops unimagined strength after consuming the magic honey made especially for him by his grandmother. Other people get stomach pain for only three days from this honey, which is originally called dunderhonung ("thunder honey").

Bamses friends are Lille Skutt ("small hops"), a lively but also very fearful white rabbit , and Skalman ("cup man"), an intelligent turtle who carries all kinds of self-developed machines in her shield. For Skalman personally, the eat-and-sleep clock is the most important utensil. He adheres strictly to their signals, even if the situation appears very unfavorable. Only in a very few cases has he so far ignored this watch.

On special “school pages” the characters report on animals, foreign cultures, historical events and the like. Often times, the characters travel through time to expand their knowledge. But there are also many stories in which dwarfs, trolls , dragons and other mythical creatures appear.

A former opponent of Bamse, Vargen ("The Wolf"), became the little bear's friend after he was treated politely by him. Croesus Sork ("Croesus Wühlmaus"), figured as a capitalist who is ready for any outrage for money.
