Bandolero was a French music band originally formed by Carlos and José Perez (the "Perez Brothers") and Jill Merme-Bourezak; and under contract with the label Mankin Records. Her manager was Alexis Quinlin.
prehistory
The group was previously (1977-1979) part of the punk band Guilty Razors - together with Tristan (aka. Tristam Nada) and Jano Homicid, a former member of the artist collective Les Musulmans fumants .
One hit wonder
Her only real hit was Paris Latino (1983), a funk - disco - rap style song that sold three million records.
Others
Carlos Perez released the solo singles Poco a Poco (1983) and Las Manos Quietas (1985). From 1987 he tried together with Jill, and the new singer Manolita, to start again with Bandolero. The band produced singles again , but there was no success.
His brother José left the band in 1986 and released the single Electric Rumba in 1987 under the pseudonym José Lucas . Brian May is said to have played the guitar part in it (his name appears in the liner notes ), but this has not been confirmed. He has been at home in the world of electronic music (ambient house funk) since the 1990s , under the pseudonym Joan Jo .
Jill Merme-Bourezak is now creating underground electronic music.
