Jaanus Sorokin (born February 9, 1986 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR ) is an Estonian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Tallinn HC Panter Purikad in the Estonian Meistriliiga since 2011 .

Career

Club

Jaanus Sorokin began his career as an ice hockey player in the Czech Republic . There he played first at HC Česká Lípa in the second highest U18 league and then at KLH Chomutov in the top division of this age group. In 2003 he returned to his hometown and joined HC Panter Tallinn , where he made his debut in the Meistriliiga at the age of 17 and won the Estonian national championship title straight away . He then changed clubs every year until 2011. He was able to win further championship titles with the Tallinn Stars in 2007 and 2009 . During this time he mainly played in the Meistriliiga, but he also made trips to the Latvian league (2007/08 with the Tartu Big Diamonds ) and the lower class HHL I Grupp (2010/11 with the Elioni SK). Since 2011 he has played continuously for Tallinn HC Panter Purikad.

International

For Estonia, Sorokin took part in the junior division of Division II of the U18 World Junior Championships in 2003 , Division I of the U20 World Junior Championships in 2004 and 2005, and the Division II tournaments of the U20 World Junior Championships in 2003 and U20 World Junior Championships in 2006 part.

For the men's national team , he played at the World Championships in Division I in 2007 , 2008 , 2015 , 2017 and 2018 as well as in Division II in 2010 and 2014 , when the promotion to Division I was successful. He was also on the ice in the Olympic qualifications for the Games in Vancouver in 2010 and in Pyeongchang in 2018 as well as in the Baltic Cup in 2017.
