Barb Jungr

Barb Jungr (born May 9, 1954 in Rochdale , England ) is a singer with Czech and German ancestors. She is known as an interpreter of chansons in the French tradition and European cabaret. She also interprets rock and jazz standards in her personal style.

Life

Barb Jungr's father was the Czech scientist Miroslav Jungr, and the mother was a German nurse. She grew up in Stockport , England .

In the 1970s she moved to London , where she was part of the alternative cabaret scene with her vocal harmony group The Three Courgettes . Then she began to compose with Michael Parker . Together they toured and recorded a number of albums. They worked with comedians Julian Clary and Arnold Brown , supported Alexei Sayle and appeared on radio and television.

In 2002 she produced the album Every Grain Of Sand on Linn Records with new arrangements of Bob Dylan's songs . In 2005 she produced the record Love Me Tender with songs by Elvis Presley , in 2008 the record Just Like A Woman - Hymn To Nina , where she reinterpreted the songs of Nina Simone .
