Barbara Fornefeld (* 1954 ) has been Professor of Education for People with Mental Disabilities at the Curative Education Faculty of the University of Cologne since 1996 . Before that, she worked as a special education teacher and professor at the universities of education in Ludwigsburg / Reutlingen and Heidelberg . She is also a board member of the Special Research Group: Profound Intellectual Multiple Disabilities (PIMD) within the International Association for the Study of Intellectual Disabilities (IASSID) and a member of the German Interdisciplinary Society for the Promotion of Research for People with Mental Disabilities (DIFGB) .

Teaching and research

Barbara Fornefeld deals with basic research in special needs education , the quality of life and participation of people with intellectual disabilities as well as school, teaching and migration research in the context of intellectual disabilities. To this end, it maintains international research collaborations.
