Markus Dederich

Markus Dederich (born June 8, 1960 in Winnipeg , Canada ) is a German educational scientist and curative teacher . He teaches as a professor at the University of Cologne and is the author of the first German-language introduction to Disability Studies .

Career

Dederich grew up in Winnipeg, São Paulo and Recife until he was twelve and then moved with his parents to Bonn . At the local university , he studied from 1980 to 1987 sociology , musicology and philosophy . He then worked from 1988 to 2001 as a research assistant at the seminar for mentally handicapped pedagogy at the University of Cologne. During this time he received his doctorate in 1996 from the University of Oldenburg , Faculty of Aesthetics and Communication . At the Fritz-Perls-Institut in Düsseldorf he also completed part-time training as a clinical music therapist and worked in various special educational fields.

Dederich completed his habilitation in general education at the University of Cologne in 2001 . This was followed by substitute professorships for mentally handicapped education at the University of Würzburg and for general curative education at the University of Cologne. From 2002 to 2011 he was Professor of Theory of Rehabilitation and Pedagogy for Disabilities at the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences at TU Dortmund University . Dederich has been Professor at the University of Cologne since October 1, 2011. His chair has the denomination General Curative Education - Theory of Curative Education and Rehabilitation .
