Josef Froewis

Josef Froewis (born March 20, 1904 in Bregenz , † December 23, 1971 in Vienna ) was an Austrian gynecologist and university professor .

Life

After attending grammar school in Bregenz, Froewis first studied medicine at the University of Innsbruck . He became active in Corps Gothia Innsbruck in 1924 and proved himself as consenior and senior . As an inactive he moved to the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin . 1932 in Innsbruck for Dr. med. after receiving his doctorate, he received his general medical training from Rudolf Maresch and Hans Eppinger junior, among others . He began his gynecological specialist training with Wilhelm Weibel at the II. University Women's Clinic in Vienna. After two years he went to the State Women's Clinic in Salzburg. Then he was assistant to Tassilo Antoine and Paul Werner in the women's department of the Lainz hospital . After he Antoine followed to the Women's Clinic of Innsbruck, he returned in 1943 back to Vienna, where he was first assistant in 1952 habilitated . He was appointed associate professor in 1957 and headed the women's department at Lainz Hospital from 1962 to 1970 .
