Barbara Frenz

Barbara Ina Frenz (born September 19, 1961 in Zurich ) is a German historian and author .

Life

Barbara Frenz studied history, philosophy and art history at the University of Frankfurt am Main from 1982 to 1989 . In 1996, she was in Frankfurt with a thesis on equality thinking in medieval German cities doctorate . From 1989 to 1999 she was a research assistant at the Universities of Frankfurt am Main and Würzburg . In 2000 she completed a copywriting course and has been working as a copywriter in the communications industry since 2001.

She is the author of poetry and historical and cultural studies. In 2015 she published a biography about the American jazz musician and poet Henry Grimes under the title Music to Silence to Music , the foreword to which was written by Sonny Rollins . In 2016 the book was nominated for the Association for Recorded Sound Collections Awards for Excellence in Historical Recorded Sound Research .

Barbara Frenz lives in Frankfurt am Main. She is a great-granddaughter of the painter Alexander Frenz .

Historical and cultural studies focus: European Middle Ages , urban life, political and social ideas, conflict resolution, standardization, use of language, social emancipation , jazz (from the 1950s)
