Barbara Kostrzewska

Barbara Kostrzewska (born September 29, 1915 in Jodłowa ; † October 14, 1986 in Warsaw ) was a Polish singer (lyric coloratura soprano) and music teacher.

Kostrzewska graduated from a teacher training college and was trained as a music and singing teacher for secondary schools at the Kraków Conservatory . She then lived in Przemyśl, where she taught at the teachers' college and performed at the Teatr Fredreum . She also took singing lessons from August Dianni in Lemberg, where she also made her first radio appearance.

In 1937 she made her debut at the Warsaw Teatr Wielki . During the war she appeared in opera and revue programs in the theaters of Warsaw and Lviv. As a nurse and liaison officer, she was active in the Polish Home Army and fled to Pilica after the defeat of the Warsaw Uprising .

From 1947 she was a soloist at the Silesian Opera in Bytom, the Teatr Wielki in Poznan and the National Opera in Warsaw . She then worked as artistic director and soloist at the music theaters in Warsaw and Lublin and as a director at the Lower Silesian Operetta in Wroclaw.
