history

The heiress of the Koschumberg lordship , Maria Maximiliane Hieserle von Chodau, widowed Slavata von Chlum and Koschumberg , born Sahrer von Sahr at the request of her husband Franz Christoph Hieserle von Chodau, left the chapel on the basalt hill of Chlumek, which towers south of the town of Luže in the years 1668–1669 Erecting Mary's birth. Since the chapel with the portrait of the Passau Madonna, a gift from her brother Franz Eusebius, had developed into a much-visited place of pilgrimage, Hieserle von Chodau, now again widowed , made the decision in 1688 after consulting her advisor, the Jesuit Father Karel Labuška to build a large pilgrimage church instead of the so-called Altöttinger Chapel. Construction began in 1690, the church construction was overshadowed by a lack of money, the death of the client, the city fire of Luže and defects in the construction work by the builder Bernard Minelli.

The Königgrätzer Jesuitenkolleg, to which the Reichsfrein Hieserle bequeathed the rule of Koschumberg in her will in 1690, had a residence built at the southern foot of the Chlumek - parallel to the church building. The new Jesuit residence replaced Košumberk Castle, of which only the castle bailiwick building was maintained, as the manor's seat. The castle itself was left to decay. The construction of the church, which was now continued under the direction of Paul Ignaz Bayer, was completed in 1696 to such an extent that the portrait of the Passau Madonna could be transferred from the Jesuit residence to the church and blessed by the superior . In 1698 the coffin of the Reichsfreiin Hieserle was transferred to the church's crypt. The main pillar portal of the church was completed in 1700; In 1701 the Jesuit crypt and a marble tablet for Freiin Hieserle were built. After the abolition of the Jesuit order , the Koschumberg rule fell to the religious fund in 1773 . In 1782 the pilgrimage church became the town parish church of Luže, and from then on the local St. Bartholomew's church only served as a burial church.

In 1807 Leopold de Laing bought the Koschumberg estate at auction, and he used the residence as a residential palace for his occasional stays in the area. A waterworks was built on the Wolschinka near Zdislav at the beginning of the 19th century to supply water to the manorial Koschumberg brewery and the Chlumek residence . De Laing sold the rule to Maximilian Karl von Thurn und Taxis in 1827 , who added it to his allodial rule Chraustowitz .

In 1835, the in consisted Chrudim District village located Chlumek or Chlomek of 6 houses where 39 people lived. The former Jesuit residence with an orchard, the office building, the Mariahilf church, a self-managed Meierhof and an inn were located in Chlumek . The parish was Lusche . Until the middle of the 19th century, Chlumek was the seat of the economic office of the Koschumberg estate.

After the abolition of patrimonial , Chlumek formed a district of the municipality of Luže in the judicial district of Hohenmauth from 1849 . From 1868 the village belonged to the political district Hohenmauth . From the end of the 19th century, Chlumek and Luže grew into one unit. In 1907, the doctor František Hamza began building a spacious children's sanatorium with pavilions in a park on the spacious site between the Chlumek and Košumberk hills. After the end of the First World War, Chlumek was no longer run as a district of Luže.
