Giovanni Battista Alliprandi
Giovanni Battista Alliprandi (also: Johann Baptist Alliprandi ; Alibrandi ; Alibrandini ; Alabriandi ; Aleprandi ; * around 1665 in Laino , Italy; † March 13, 1720 in Leitomischl ) was an architect of Italian descent who mainly worked in Bohemia .
family
Although Alliprandi was one of the most famous Baroque architects in Bohemia alongside Christoph Dientzenhofer and Johann Blasius Santini-Aichl , little is known about his origins. He was the son of the plasterer Lorenzo Alliprandi , who worked in Vienna . Giovanni Battista was married to Barbara Cecilia Bussi ( Buzzi ), with whom he had seven children. In 1709 he acquired Lesser Town citizenship and built a house for himself and his family in Ostruhová ulice (today Nerudová ).
job
In 1685 Giovanni Battista Alliprandi began an apprenticeship with the famous Viennese master builder Domenico Martinelli . From 1690 to 1695 he was employed as a parlier in the construction of the Marian pilgrimage church in Luže in East Bohemia , the plans of which came from Paul Ignaz Bayer . Alliprandi is listed twice as godfather in the registers of Luže.
From 1696 to 1702 Alliprandi worked as court architect for the aristocratic Czernin family . From 1697 he lived permanently in Prague, where he is listed as the highest imperial fortification master of the Prague castles for 1706 . In 1709 he became the house architect of Count Trautmannsdorff . In this position he made several trips to Vienna, where he probably got to know Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt and Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach as well as their architectural works and implemented the knowledge and suggestions he gained in his buildings in Bohemia. For 1712 he is proven as a fortification master in Eger .
In addition to building and renovating numerous castles in Bohemia, Alliprandi also built several Prague aristocratic palaces. His last commission from 1714 was the construction of the college church for the Leitomischler Piarists , which had been donated by Count Franz von Trautmannsdorff. Alliprandi died in Leitomischl and was buried in the local deanery church. His widow returned to Laino with five children.
