Barbara Neuroth

Barbara Neuroth (born December 10, 1957 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( Greens ). She succeeded Eva Glawischnig as a member of the National Council on May 29, 2017 and was a member of the National Council until November 8, 2017.

Life

Barbara Neuroth attended elementary school and the lower grades of grammar school in Vienna- Mariahilf from 1972 to 1977 at the college for business professions in Vienna- Wieden . In 1975/76 she spent a school year in Minnesota through AFS . From 1978 she completed a translation and interpreting course for Spanish and English at the University of Vienna , completing her studies with a diploma thesis on Gabriel García Marquez "El coronel no tiene quien le escriba" with two translations into German: critical translation comparison as a Magistra . From 1988 to 1991 she worked as a translator at the Embassy of Ecuador in Vienna.

From 2000 to 2002 she was foreign and development policy advisor for Ulrike Lunacek . She has been District Councilor of the Greens in Vienna-Wieden since 1996 , where she has been Deputy District Chairman since 2010. On June 7, 2017, she was sworn in as a member of the National Council, where she was a member of the Committee on Petitions and Citizens' Initiatives, the Environment Committee and the Ombudsman Committee. Due to the fact that the Greens failed to join the National Council in the 2017 National Council election , she left the National Council at the end of the 25th legislative period on November 8, 2017.
