Barbara Ott

Barbara Ott (born 1983 in Tirschenreuth ) is a German film director and screenwriter . She is a member of the German Film Academy and lives in Berlin .

life and work

After a long stay abroad in New Zealand , Barbara Ott worked as a freelance assistant director and interior propositioner for TV and cinema films at home and abroad between 2004 and 2006 . From 2006 to 2013 she studied directing and scenic film at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy .

Her graduation film Sunny received worldwide attention, ran successfully at national and international festivals and received numerous awards, including the German Short Film Prize in Gold, the Studio Hamburg Young Talent Prize and the German Camera Prize . She also received the First Steps Award in the Best Feature Film up to 60 Minutes category.

In 2020 her debut feature film Kids Run opened the Perspective German Cinema section at the Berlin International Film Festival . It is nominated for Best First Feature.
