Barbara Norton

Barbara Norton , married Barbara Conrad , previously Barbara Lewe-Pohlmann and Barbara Schüttpelz , (born September 9, 1956 in Essen ) is a former German canoeist .

The canoe racer from KG Essen was third in a four-person kayak at the Junior World Championships in 1973 . In 1974 she took sixth place in the two-person kayak and fifth place in the four-person kayak at the World Championships in the adult class , in 1975 she was fifth in the two-person kayak and sixth in the four-person kayak. She took part in the 1976 Olympic Games in a two-person kayak. Together with Heiderose Wallbaum , she finished fifth in 1: 53.86 minutes.

At the World Championships in 1978 and 1979, she finished fourth in the single kayak . The 1983 World Championships brought her and Josefa Idem eighth in a two-person kayak. At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles she was behind Agneta Andersson silver medalist in a single kayak over 500 meters and bronze medalist in a two-person kayak (with Josefa Idem) over 500 meters, and fifth in a four-person kayak. Furthermore, she won 34 German championship titles. Barbara Conrad was married to the canoeist Detlef Lewe (1939-2008) for a while.
