Barbara Stiegler

Barbara Stiegler (* 1948 ) is a German psychologist and educator . She was a scientific consultant and head of the women's and gender policy department at the Friedrich Ebert Foundation .

Life

Barbara Stiegler studied psychology and education at the University of Bonn and was born in 1976 with a dissertation with the title The co-determination of the worker. Women between traditional family ties and union involvement in the Dr. phil. PhD. Her research initially focused on the humanization of work and the participation of employees; since 1982 she worked primarily in women's research . Her main topics include the training of women in male-dominated professions , the advancement of women in the private sector, and social skills as a so-called female qualification.

From 1986 to 1996 she was a research assistant at the research institute of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Bonn, then until December 2011 head of the women's and gender research department in the economic and social policy department of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung. In these functions, she wrote numerous publications on the subject areas.

She has been working as a scientific policy advisor since 1992, developing expertise and giving lectures. Since 1998 she has been increasingly involved in research, conceptualization and advice for various target groups on the subject of gender mainstreaming .

She has three children and lives in Bonn .
