Barbara Zweig

Barbara Zweig (born August 15, 1866 in Vienna ; † April 20, 1929 there ) was an Austrian playwright . She was also known under the name Betty Zweig or Betti Zweig .

life and career

Barbara Zweig was born on August 15, 1866 in the city ​​of Vienna, which was part of the Austrian Empire at the time . Around 1904 her first well-known work was published with the title Catherine of Alexandria , a play in 4 acts . After she had brought out the play Liebe um Liebe in 1907 , the play Christ Eve and the play Ein Wettstreit followed in 1911 . In 1913 she published the play Nesthäkchen , a play in five acts. In the same year the play Heinzelmännchen was performed, before the plays Die Waise , Die Dichternärrin and the festival The Sun of Our Life followed in the following year . In 1915 she published A Quiet Party and the play The Friends . A year later she brought God's Ways Are Wonderful and A Name Day Tale to the stage. After she had published The Engaged Grandmother (1919) and The Servant of Our Lady (1920) in the following years , she published the play in 4 acts with the title Mother's Love in 1922 . Zweig died on April 20, 1929 at the age of 62 in the federal capital, which now belongs to Austria .
