Hripsime Simonyan ( Armenian Հռիփսիմե Սիմոնյան , Russian Рипсиме Левоновна Симонян Rimsime Lewonowna Simonyan , born January 12 . Jul / 25. January  1916 greg. In Kars ; † 28. September 1998 in Yerevan ) was an Armenian - Soviet sculptor and university lecturer .

Life

Simonjan's father Levon Simonjan and his family settled in Tbilisi in 1918 . There Hripsime attended school and the construction engineering center. In 1938 she began her studies at the Tbilisi Art Academy in the ceramics department of the faculty for sculptors and ceramists .

In 1943 the Simonjan family moved to Yerevan , where Hripsime immediately held an exhibition of their ceramic works. Then she was accepted into the Armenian Artists Union. In 1945 she completed her studies with a diploma as a sculptor-ceramist and founded the section for applied arts in the Armenian Union of Artists , which she headed until 1975. From 1946 to 1947 she explored the different areas of Armenia to learn more about the works of local masters. Then she reported on the Armenian decorative arts and folk art at congresses and in the press . When the porcelain factory opened in Yerevan in 1947 , Hripsime became its first artist. From 1948 to 1949 she took over the post of main artist and sculptor. In the 1950s she was enthusiastic about faience and porcelain. She created small portrait sculptures of Aram Khachaturian , Konstantin Saradschew , Avetik Issahakjan , Howhannes Tumanjan and Chatschatur Abovjan . She also formed folk figures. In 1956, she set up the ceramics department of the sculpture faculty at the Yerevan Theater Institute . In 1977 she was appointed professor.

Hripsime had personal exhibitions in Yerevan (1943, 1947, 1966 and 1996), Moscow (1967), Kiev (1976) and Tbilisi (1982). She participated in national and international exhibitions and received numerous awards, for example in Prague 1962, Geneva 1965, Faenza 1969, 1971, 1972, Vilnius 1971 and Vallauris 1970, 1972, 1978, 1980. Her works are in the Armenian National Gallery and in other museums in Yerevan and Vanadzor , in the Armenian Theater in Tbilisi, in the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army in Moscow, in Kuskovo and other places.

Hripsime was married to the surgeon Ruben Paronjan. Her son was the architect Arzwin Grigorjan .
