Minas Avetissjan
Minas Awetissjan ( Armenian Մինաս Ավետիսյան , Russian Минас Аветисян * 20th July 1928 in Dschadschur, Shirak , † 24. February 1975 in Yerevan ) was an Armenian - Soviet painter .
Life
Avetissjan, son of the blacksmith Karapet Avetissjan from Muş and his wife Sofo, daughter of the priest from Kars , studied at the Terlemesjan Art School in Yerevan from 1947 to 1952 and then until 1954 at the Yerevan Theater Art Institute and the Leningrad Repin Institute for Painting , Sculpture and Architecture . One of his most important teachers was BW Ioganson , a leading exponent of Socialist Realism .
Avetissjan lived in Yerevan from 1960. He became widely known through the Five Artists exhibition in Yerevan in 1962. He painted the Armenian nature, the mountains, the fields, poor people and religion. In contrast to the usual open-air painting of his Armenian colleagues, he only made sketches in nature, which he then completed in his studio. In 1968 he received the title of Honored Artist of the Armenian SSR .
In 1967, Mikhail Wartanov portrayed the art of Martiros Sarjans , Arto Tschakmaktschian and Avetissjan in his film The Color of Land , with background episodes by Sergei Parajanov , who then fell victim to censorship .
In 1972 the artist's studio and most of his works were destroyed by fire. Avetissjan died in 1975 when he was run over by a car on a footpath. Wartanov's film Minas: A Requiem (1989) made it clear that the accident was staged by the KGB , which was then confirmed by a government investigation.
Avetissjan was married to Gajane Mamadschanjan and had two sons Arman and Narek. Junna Petrovna Moriz dedicated the second part of her Armenian poem Avetissjan in 1983, while the first part was dedicated to the poet Paruir Sewak . The 1988 Spitak earthquake destroyed the buildings with Avetissjan's frescoes and his house, which had become a museum.
