Barbara Chapel

The Barbara Chapel is 1142 meters above sea level on the sunny side of Löllinger in the municipality of Hüttenberg . It was built in 1862 by miners with the help of the Dickmann-Secherau trade family . A steep gable roof between two stepped gables covers the neo-Gothic building. A marble relief with the coat of arms of the Barons Dickmann-Secherau is attached above the broad, ogival south portal. Until the First World War, a bell hung on a crossbeam between two spruce trees . A silver monstrance , some silver candlesticks and the Eternal Lightfell victim to a theft in 1929. Only the eternal light was replaced by an open brass miner's lamp , which was stolen again in the 1970s. The original altarpiece with Saint Barbara was restored at the end of the 1950s and transferred to the Knappenberg branch church . In the chapel there is now a reduced photocopy of the picture on canvas.
