Merian from 1642: Barfüsserkirche (3)
The former convent building on the square in Schaffhausen.

The Barfüsserkirche in Schaffhausen was a three-aisled church along today's Stadthausgasse. It was 67 m long and exceeded the city church of St. Johann by 9 m. The Barfüsserkloster was founded in 1250 and closed in 1529 as a result of the introduction of the Reformation . The church was demolished in 3 stages in order to be able to erect new buildings: the choir in 1543 , the western nave followed in 1729 and the central section in 1837. Parts of the convent building with the cloister still exist today.

The town house now stands on the site of the former Barfüsserkirche . In the Krumm- und Stadthausgasse the floor plan of the west facade of the Barfüsserkirche is marked in white in the paving.
