Barista Coffeehouse is the name of a chain of coffee bars in India that operates under the umbrella of Barista Lavazza India Ltd. based in New Delhi are operated as a franchise system. Barista includes e.g. Currently over 100 coffee bars in India, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates .

The offer includes coffee specialties, cookies, sandwiches, burgers and soft drinks. The prices are well above what is common in India. Some branches have also integrated a small bookshop.

history

In 2001, Turner Morrison's Amit Judge founded the Barista Coffee Company . Barista was a pioneer in coffee retailing in India at the time. 2001 became a 34% stake in Tata Coffee. C Sivasankaran bought Tata Coffee with his Sterling group in 2004 and also acquired the remaining 66 percent of the Barista Coffee Company from Turner Morrison.

In 2007 the Italian Lavazza Group took over the Barista Coffee Company and renamed Bariast Lavazza India . In addition, the Indian roaster Fresh & Honest was acquired , which from then on took over the delivery of coffee for the barista coffee shops.

In 2009 the chain had 200 branches in India with an estimated annual turnover of 2 billion Indian rupees

In 2014 Lavazza sold the barista Lavazza India to Carnation Hospitality.
