taste

Barley wines are preferred in winter and are mostly reddish, dark in color. They are also characterized by their foam formation , which is so firm that foam structures are retained even in the empty glass. They usually taste sweet at first because of their high alcohol content, but turn into bitter and hoppy in the finish. This happens because of their relatively high original wort content. There are also wild berries , oak , whiskey and salt water flavors , as well as often wine flavors , which are achieved through the high concentration of ale yeast .
