Barmeath Castle ( Irish Caisleán Bhearna MHEA ) is a quadrangular castle in Grangebellew , west of Dunleer in the center of Ireland's County Louth .

The castle was built as a tower house in the 15th century . The Bellew family had lived there since 1670. At the end of the 17th century, the Tower House was renovated and integrated into the Georgian style fort today . In 1830 Patrick Bellew had the castle expanded and an entrance tower with portcullis added.

Of particular interest is the 4 hectare landscaped garden with a lake, an island in it, a rock bridge and a shell house designed by the garden architect Thomas Wright in the 18th century. The castle and garden are in a 120 hectare park.
