The Barniner See is located in the Sternberg lake landscape , in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in western Mecklenburg . The lake is located a little northeast of Crivitz and belongs entirely to the municipality of Barnin. It is around three kilometers long and has an average depth of 2.1 meters. The southern part of the lake is very narrow and up to 7.5 meters deep, while the northern part is very shallow and wide. The bank is steep and wooded in the southern part, while the northern part is flat and flows smoothly into the surrounding meadows and pastures. In Barnin there is a water hiking rest area on the lakeshore , which serves as a starting point for water hikes on the Warnow . In addition to the Warnow, the lake also has the official moat from the south as a tributary. This flows into the lake coming from the Crivitzer See. The Warnow as an outflow is hidden in the north-west of the lake.
