Baron Carew
Baron Carew is a hereditary British title of nobility , which was awarded once each in the Peerage of England , Peerage of Ireland and Peerage of the United Kingdom .
Awards
The title was first created on May 4, 1605 in the Peerage of England as Baron Carew , of Clopton in the County of Warwick , for Sir George Carew . This was also elevated to Earl of Totnes on February 5, 1626 in the Peerage of England . Since he did not leave any legitimate descendants, both titles expired on his death on March 27, 1629.
In the second award on June 13, 1834 in the Peerage of Ireland, the title Baron Carew was created for the House of Commons Robert Carew, 1st Baron Carew . The same was raised on July 9, 1858 in the Peerage of the United Kingdom to Baron Carew , of Castleboro in the County of Wexford . His great-grandson, the 6th Baron, added that of his mother to his surname in 1938. Today's owner of both titles has been his son Patrick Connolly-Carew as the 7th Baron since 1994 .
The historic family residence of the barons (second and third awards) was Woodstown House in County Waterford and is now Donadea House near Naas in County Kildare .
