Baron Dunboyne

Baron Dunboyne is a hereditary British title of nobility created twice in the Peerage of Ireland . The titles are named after the Irish city of Dunboyne . Both titles exist in parallel to this day.

Awards

The title was first granted by letters patent on June 11, 1541 for Sir Edmond Butler . His ancestors held the feudal barony of Dunboyne from 1324. The seat of the Barons Dunboyne First Grant is Kiltinan Castle near Fethard in County Tipperary .

In the second bestowal, the title was created on November 29, 1719 for Sir William Grimston, 5th Baronet , together with the superior title Viscount Grimston, which is also part of the Peerage of Ireland . He already carried the title Baronet , of Little Waltham, created in the Baronetage of England in 1629 . His grandson, the 3rd Viscount, was also awarded the title of Baron Verulam in the Peerage of Great Britain in 1790 . His son, the 4th Viscount, was also awarded the title Earl of Verulam and Viscount Grimston in 1815 , both in the Peerage of the United Kingdom . The family is based in Gorhambury House near St. Albans in Hertfordshire .

The presumed title heir ( Heir Presumptive ) is the second uncle of the current title holder Michael Butler (* 1944).

Barone Dunboyne, second bestowal (1719)

Probable heir apparent is the son of the current title holder James Grimston, Viscount Grimston (* 1978).
His title heir is his son John Grimston (* 2010).
