Eagle Lake is a city in Polk County in the US state of Florida with 2,255 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Eagle Lake is about 5 km northeast of Bartow and about 80 km southwest of Orlando .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 2255 inhabitants were distributed over 1043 households. The population density was 626.4 inh / km². 80.4% of the population identified themselves as whites, 7.2% as African American , 0.4% as Indians and 2.2% as Asian Americans . 6.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.0% to several ethnic groups. 16.1% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 40.3% of all households and people aged 65 and over in 25.8% of all households. 74.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.89 people and the average family size was 3.31 people.

30.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 25.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 16.7% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 34 years. 48.2% of the population were male and 51.8% were female.

The median annual income was $ 41,550, with 15.0% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 73.68% of the population and Spanish was spoken by 26.32%.
