Lakeland Highlands is a census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County in the US state of Florida with 11,056 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Lakeland Highlands borders directly on the city of Lakeland to the north and is located about 10 km northwest of Bartow and about 50 km east of Tampa . The CDP is affected by Florida State Road 37 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 11,056 inhabitants at that time were distributed across 4,394 households. The population density was 762.5 inh / km². 91.6% of the population identified themselves as white , 3.4% as African-American , 0.2% as Native American and 2.1% as Asian Americans . 0.9% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.8% to several ethnic groups. 7.9% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 32.1% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 30.8% of all households. 78.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.62 people and the average family size was 2.95 people.

24.5% of the population were younger than 20 years, 16.0% were 20 to 39 years old, 34.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 24.8% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 47 years. 48.4% of the population were male and 51.6% were female.

The median annual income was $ 82,827, with 3.4% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 93.76% of the population, 4.91% spoke Spanish and 1.33% had another mother tongue.
