Willow Oak is a census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County in the US state of Florida with 6732 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Willow Oak is located approximately 15 km west of Bartow and 40 km east of Tampa . The CDP is crossed by Florida State Road 60 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 6,732 inhabitants were distributed among 1,936 households. The population density was 811.1 inh / km². 70.4% of the population identified themselves as whites , 7.1% as African American , 0.4% as Indians and 0.5% as Asian Americans . 19.3% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.2% to several ethnic groups. 37.1% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 46.4% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 16.7% of all households. 75.1% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.17 people and the average family size was 3.58 people.

35.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 32.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 21.6% were 40 to 59 years old, and 10.9% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 29 years. 50.1% of the population were male and 49.9% were female.

The median annual income was $ 37,088, with 22.0% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, 81.79% of the population spoke English as the first language and 18.21% spoke Spanish .
