Alturas is a census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County in the US state of Florida with 4185 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Alturas is about 15 km east of Bartow and about 70 km east of Tampa .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 4185 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 1672 households. The population density was 30 inh / km². 87.9% of the population identified themselves as whites, 3.6% as African-Americans , 0.4% as Indians and 0.4% as Asian Americans . 5.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.9% to several ethnic groups. 17.1% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
