Brewster is about 20 km southwest of Bartow and about 50 km east of Tampa .

history

Despite having three residents counted by the United States Census Bureau in 2010, Brewster is now considered a ghost town . The place was founded in 1910 and existed as a workers' settlement in phosphate mining until the 1960s. After the raw material deposits were exhausted, the place was dissolved and most of the buildings demolished.

The computer pioneer John Atanasoff grew up in Brewster .
