Inwood is a census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County in the US state of Florida with 6403 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Inwood borders the city of Winter Haven to the east and is about 15 km north of Bartow and about 60 km southwest of Orlando . The CDP is traversed by Florida State Road 544 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 6403 inhabitants were distributed among 2869 households. The population density was 1280.6 inh / km². 59.9% of the population identified themselves as whites , 29.3% as African American , 0.7% as Indians and 0.6% as Asian Americans . 6.2% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.3% to several ethnic groups. 15.2% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 36.1% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 28.0% of all households. 65.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.71 people and the average family size was 3.30 people.

30.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 24.9% were 20 to 39 years old, 27.0% were 40 to 59 years old, and 18.0% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 36 years. 48.9% of the population were male and 51.1% were female.

The median annual income was $ 26,647, with 32.7% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 88.59% of the population, 5.94% spoke Spanish and 5.47% had another mother tongue.
