Crystal Lake is a census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County in the US state of Florida with 5514 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Crystal Lake is directly adjacent to Lakeland to the west and is about 15 km north of Bartow and about 50 km east of Tampa . The CDP is tangent to or crossed by US Highway 92 ( SR 600 ) and Florida State Road 659 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 5514 inhabitants were distributed over 2457 households. The population density was 787.7 inh / km². 64.9% of the population identified themselves as whites, 22.4% as African-Americans , 0.3% as Indians and 1.2% as Asian Americans . 6.8% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 4.4% to several ethnic groups. 18.3% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 39.2% of all households and people aged 65 and over in 23.3% of all households. 65.9% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.76 people and the average family size was 3.27 people.

31.9% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 29.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 23.4% were 40 to 59 years old, and 15.0% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 31 years. 49.3% of the population were male and 50.7% were female.

The median annual income was $ 32,013, with 28.5% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 92.07% of the population, 5.25% spoke Spanish and 2.68% spoke Lao .
