Baron Harris
Baron Harris , of Seringapatam and Mysore in the East Indies and of Belmont in the County of Kent , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .
Award
The title was awarded to General George Harris on August 11, 1815 . From 1796 to 1800 he was governor of the Madras presidency and the British supreme commander in the Fourth Mysore War , which he ended victoriously with the successful siege of Seringapatam (1799) .
