Baron Talbot of Malahide

Baron Talbot of Malahide (also de Malahide ) is a hereditary British title of nobility , which was awarded once each in the Peerage of Ireland and in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Until 1976, the family seat of the barons was Malahide Castle in Malahide in what is now County Fingal .

Award

The title was first awarded on May 26, 1831 to Margaret Talbot , nee O'Reilly. She was the widow of Richard Talbot (1736–1788). Her son, the 2nd Baron, was also raised to Baron Furnival , of Malahide in the County of Dublin on May 8, 1839 in the Peerage of the United Kingdom . Since he had no sons, this title expired on his death on October 29, 1849, the Barony Talbot of Malahide inherited his brother as 3rd baron.

His son, the 4th Baron, was awarded the title Baron Talbot de Malahide , of Malahide in the County of Dublin , on November 19, 1856 , this time in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. With the childless death of his grandson, the 7th and 4th baron, on April 14, 1973, this title expired, while the barony from 1831 to his third degree nephew as the 8th baron.

Today's title holder has been his second-degree grand-nephew Richard Arundell as the 11th baron since 2016 .
