The Barrage de la Valette ( " dam of la Valett") is a French dam in the Correze in the Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine and is in operation since 1949th The dam was built between 1945 and 1949, also with the help of German prisoners of war from camp Tulle (Depot 123).
geography
The structure dams the course of the Doustre at Marcillac-la-Croisille and Saint-Pardoux-la-Croisille in the central part of the Massif Central , not far from Clergoux and La Roche-Canillac .
construction
During the construction period on July 2, 1948, there was a serious accident in which 2 French workers and 1 German prisoner of war were killed. 3 other workers were injured.
use
The reservoir is used as a hydropower plant to generate electricity. It is designed for an output of approx. 33 MW. The facility is operated by Électricité de France (EDF).
