Barrington Levy

Barrington Levy (born April 30, 1964 in Kingston , Jamaica ) is a ragga and dancehall musician from Jamaica. His biggest hits include Here I come , Under Mi Sensi and Englishman .

Career

After his entry into the music business with his brother as Mighty Multitude in 1977 was unsuccessful, the following year he began to work with Henry "Junjo" Lawes , one of the leading producers of the late 1970s and the first half of the 1980s. After having hits like Yah we De , Hunter Man and Shine Eye Gal in 1978, he released his debut album Bounty Hunter (Shaolin Temple) in 1979 , which some consider to be the first dancehall album. In the following period, the early 1980s, he shaped the sound and singing style of early dancehalls with albums such as Englishman , Robin Hood and Money Move, and served as a role model for tenor Saw , among others .

In 1985 he succeeded in making the transition to digital dancehall with Here I come , which is still one of his best-known songs today, which then became the predominant style for some time. After that it became quieter around him, even if he continued to publish - but less often. In 1998, for example, the feature Living Dangerously with Bounty Killer was a hit.
