Richie Spice (born September 8, 1971 in Saint Andrew , Jamaica ; real name: Richell Bonner ) is a Jamaican reggae artist.

Career

Music has always held a prominent place in the family and, inspired by his brothers' dancehall activities, he joined them. One day his brother Spanner Banner, who was already known as an artist (Spanna Banna) at the time, took him into the studio and introduced him to some important producers . The forged relationships led to Richie's debut single Killing A Sound , which was produced by Dennis Star Hayes.

This was followed by the single Shine for musician and producer Clive Hunt. In 2000 the album Universal was produced, which introduces 18 tracks. These include productions for Blend Clive Hunt, Dem Productions, Slam Productions, King Of Kings or Shocking Vibes.

The family is also involved in the productions: Spanner Banner and Snatcher Dog supported Richie in two titles and Pliers is active as an executive producer. In addition, Jah Mason and Shaggy were brought into the studio as guests, which brought another album to life. The first hit that resulted from this album was Grooving My Girl , a love song. Through the collaboration with Heartbeat Records, the album was distributed internationally and received many good reviews.

A short time later, Richie Spice was also on stage at major festivals such as Sumfest, Rebel Salute, White River Reggae Bash or Sting. In addition, he toured Europe and North America with his brothers Spanner Banner and Pliers .

Richie Spice has been under contract with the record label 5th Element Records since 2004 , under the same roof as Chuck Fender and Anthony Cruz . The first singles for the 5th Element label were Marijuana and Table Is Turning Around . Devon Whealty, CEO of the label, said: “It is rare that you find someone with Richie's extraordinary talent, potent writing ability, humility and discipline. With proper guidance and management, there is no limit to the vast possibilities that awaits him, and the Fifth Element has every intention to make it a reality. "

Other singles are Black Like Tar , Jokey Jokey and Blood Again , which were recorded on the “Blaze” riddim produced by the German sound system Pow Pow Movement . He sings about problems in Jamaica and around the world: war , racialism , crime and the destruction of nature . In his texts he says that children should go to school and have a future. Other topics such as Rastafarian beliefs, Afro-Jamaican society and the holy land of Zion are covered.
