Pow Pow Movement is a Cologne sound system . It is considered the first Cologne sound system and is one of the most successful sound systems from Germany in Germany and internationally.

Ingo Rheinbay ( Selector ) and Backra ( MC ) got to know each other in the mid-1980s and a short time later they found dancehall and reggae music through randomly received mix tapes . Further inspiration was about the British soldiers radio station BFBS broadcast program Rodigan's Rockers of the English radio presenter David Rodigan . They first started organizing small reggae parties. Tillmann Otto, who later became known as a gentleman , soon joined them and took over the microphone at the events.

The beginning as a sound system under the name Pow Pow Movement was in 1990. On a trip to Jamaica in the early 1990s, they immersed themselves deeper in Jamaican music culture. After returning, Thomas ( Mr. Brown ) joined the team as another selector. In 1995 Pow Pow Movement got a permanent location, since then they have been playing regularly on Fridays in the Cologne club Petit Prince . There the Jamaican Devon got to know the sound system, who was the next MC to join Pow Pow. From then on, they started as a team of four.

As a result, they networked in the scene, played in other clubs across Germany and guest sound systems were invited to the Petit Prince . B. David Rodigan, Stone Love and other national and international scene greats on Dances together with Pow Pow Movement. Pow Pow Productions

Pow Pow Movement has had his own music studio in Cologne since 2001 and runs the Pow Pow Productions label . More successful riddims followed, for example Superior , on which Gentleman sang his hit single, which gave the riddim its name.
