Cali P , actually: Pierre Nanon (* 1985 in Guadeloupe ) is a Swiss dancehall and reggae singer.

Life

Pierre Nanon was born in Guadeloupe in 1985 to a Guadeloupe father and a Swiss mother. He started playing drums at the age of three and wrote his first lyrics at the age of 14 . During his childhood his family moved to Switzerland where he grew up. He began his career under the pseudonym "Cali P" in 2000 with the Swiss Gideon Soldiers Soundsystem . Since 2002 he has appeared with various reggae bands, such as the German bands Oneness and Soul Fire , and with the Scrucialists until 2006 .

Cali P's music was recognized internationally, which led to Cali P starting to perform worldwide very quickly. In 2008 Cali P released his debut album Lyrical Faya . Caribbean and African themes combined in his songs. In 2009 the double mixtape Listen 2 This was released , which he recorded together with DJ's Walshy Fire from Miami and DJ Vincz Lee from Geneva. The mixtape is more hip-hop-heavy and shows the wide range Cali P has as an artist. In 2010 the album Like a Lion was released , a soundtrack for the film of the same name. It has been sold over 3500 times.

In 2011 his album Unstoppable was released . Although Cali P has lived in Jamaica since the end of 2009 , the album was produced entirely in Switzerland. Guests like stress and phenomena are represented on it. In 2012 he released songs like Sweetest Thing , Reggae Music , Can't Hold I&I or Fire Burning in Jamaica .

In 2015 his third album Healing Of The Nation was released . In 2016 he released his fourth, so far last album entitled I Thoughts .

Discography

Between 2005 and 2012, Cali P released three albums and over 150 singles, mostly on digital platforms, CDs or as 7 "vinyl.
