history

At the end of 1972 «Der Limmattaler AG» was founded in Dietikon. In addition to the rights to the titles “Der Limmattaler” and “Limmattaler Tagblatt”, the company took over machines and printing facilities. In 1987 Der Limmattaler merged with the Limmat newspaper to form the new Limmattaler Tagblatt . In the summer of 1997 the company changed the name to “Limmattaler Tagblatt AG” and in 2008 to “Limmattaler Medien AG” after the newspaper itself had already changed its name to Limmattaler Zeitung in September 2007 . The name Limmattaler Tagblatt disappeared after 170 years. The company was deleted in June 2010 after it had merged with “Aargauer Zeitung AG”, Baden, in the previous month. In the same year the Dietikon district gazette was integrated into the Limmattaler Zeitung .

From September 2007 to February 2017, the Sunday newspaper Switzerland appeared on Sunday (until 2013 Sunday ) as the seventh edition of az Nordwestschweiz and thus the Limmattaler Zeitung . Since March 4, 2017, az Nordwestschweiz has been issuing an expanded weekend edition on Saturdays for the association's newspapers under the name Schweiz am Sonntag .

Editor-in-chief of the Limmattaler Zeitung since June 1, 2011 was Jürg Krebs. Before that he was deputy editor-in-chief for nine years. He joined what is now AZ Medien in 1998. On January 1, 2016, Bettina Hamilton-Irvine became the new editor-in-chief. David Egger has been editor-in-chief of the Limmattaler Zeitung since March 1, 2018 .

In 2018, AZ Medien brought the Limmattaler Zeitung and the other newspapers in its possession from the association az Nordwestschweiz into the joint venture CH Media , which was founded with the NZZ-Mediengruppe and which is owned equally by both groups. The joint venture also includes the regional newspapers of the NZZ media group St. Galler Tagblatt and Luzerner Zeitung as well as the radio and TV stations of both companies and other business units. Operations started on October 1, 2018.
