Paul Staiger

Paul Staiger (* 1941 in Portland , Oregon , USA ) is an American contemporary painter and an important exponent of photorealism .

Life

Paul Staiger studied at Northwestern University in 1962, contemporary literature at the University of Chicago from 1962 to 1964 and at the California College of Arts and Crafts in 1967 .

He was a teacher at San Jose State College from 1967 to 1972 and from 1968 to 1970 at the California College of Arts and Crafts.

Staiger had his first solo exhibitions in 1969 and 1971 at the Michael Walls Gallery in San Francisco .

Paul Staiger is known for his hyper-realistic acrylic paintings of American houses (for example, residential buildings of celebrities), street scenes, cars and airplanes.

Paul Staiger took part in Documenta 5 in Kassel in 1972 in the pioneering Realism department with some pictures . To this day he has exhibitions in major museums and galleries around the world.

His pictures are included in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City .
