Winner of the Barry Award in the category paperback novel Best ( Best Paperback Original / Best Paperback Novel ), which since 1997 the best in the previous year in the United States or Canada works published by an author from the crime novel or mystery distinguished genre of which in paperback format has been published (as opposed to the Best Novel category ). This category has been reserved for US and Canadian authors since 2000, while its British counterparts have a separate category .
