Life

After studying political science at Amherst College , he first worked in the travel industry .

In 1995 his first thriller in the Myron Bolitar series appeared .

He lives in Ridgewood , New Jersey with his wife, Anne Armstrong-Coben, a pediatrician, and their four children .

Coben is the first author to win the three most important American crime prizes at the same time: the Edgar Allan Poe Award , the Shamus Award and the Anthony Award . His books have been translated into 33 languages ​​and bestsellers in more than half a dozen countries .

After two little-known early works, Coben wrote his first book in 1995 about the experiences of sports manager Myron Bolitar. Critics loved the series. After seven books with the same main character, Harlan Coben wanted to try something new. He said, "I had a great idea that just wouldn't have worked for Myron Bolitar." The result was the New York Times bestseller No Death Word , which became one of 2001's top-rated thrillers. Harlan Coben built on the success of No Death Word with the books No Signs of Life , No Second Chance , No Bad Dream and No Peace to the Dead . By mentioning the same characters in different works, Coben creates his own universe in which both the Myron Bolitar series and all subsequent books are set.
