Christopher Barry Cox

Christopher Barry Cox (born June 29, 1931 in London ), often written as Barry Cox or C. Barry Cox , is a British zoologist, paleontologist and non-fiction author.

Life

Cox is the son of Herbert Ernest and May Cox, née Bell. His father was a civil servant. 1953 Cox gained on the Balliol College of Oxford University the Bachelor of Arts. In 1956 he was on the St. John's College of the University of Cambridge to the Ph.D. PhD. From 1956 to 1966 he was a lecturer, 1966-1969 he was principal lecturer, 1969-1976 associate professor from 1976 to 1996 he was a professor at the Department of Zoology at King's College of the University of London. Cox was vice president of the Paleontological Association, chairman of the Epsom-Ewell Consultative Committee and the Epsom Protection Society, and vice chairman of the board of directors of Epsom High School. From 1959 to 1960 he was a Harkness Fellow of the Commonwealth Fund at Harvard University . Cox was married for the first time from 1961 to 1996. After the death of his first wife, he remarried in 1998. He has two sons and a daughter.

Cox undertook paleontological expeditions to Central Africa (1963), the Argentine Andes (1967), northern Brazil (1972) and Queensland, Australia (1978). In 1969 he described the two dicynodontic animals Zambiasaurus submersus and Sangusaurus edentatus from Zambia .
